Earlier this year, 21-year-old R&B singer Kehlani reportedly attempted to take her own life due to receiving social media scrutiny after rumors swirled she cheated on her then-boyfriend, Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving, with the musician PartyNextDoor. Now after some time away, the budding artist, whose song “CRZY” is rising up the charts, is sharing some thoughts on the situation.

In an interview with The Cruz Show, Kehlani talked about dealing with some of her emotional demons, many of which came to the forefront during the controversy in March.
“I think it was a combination of things,” she said. “I think, one, the response was insane. Two, I think people forgot I was a 21-year-old going through the biggest heartbreak of my life.” The Grammy-nominated singer also said that being able to tackle the issue on such a public stage has made her a stronger person.
“I wasn’t a victim, you know what I mean I’m never a victim, I refuse to be a victim, I’m not,” she continued. “It was really recovering from so many things at once…on the flip side, there’s not too much that can hurt me now.”
