Here’s the Spark notes: James King, a banker who’s accused of tax evasion and is prepping for his prison sentence, made a playlist of songs to listen to while he’s locked up. So obviously “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel made the cut. Also on his soundtrack to prison: “Fuck Tha Police” by N.W.A., “Big Poppa” by The Notorious B.I.G., and “It’s Raining Men” by Geri Halliwell.
“Anytime you get to play a fish out of water, which I think is what’s unique about the movie, is that we’re both fish out of water,” Ferrell told Spotify about his role. “He’s trying to act like a guy who’s been in prison and then I’m trying to adopt what I think is the way to act tough and indoctrinate myself in.”
Meanwhile, Darnell’s playlist featured more pre-game anthems like “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor, “Levels,” by Meek Mill, and a lot of Drake, namely “0 to 100/The Catch Up,” “10 Bands” and “Hold On We’re Going Home.”
In addition to his Spotify mix, Hart reminisced over his very first mixtape. “Mine was definitely a love mix. I was 8 years old. Salt-N-Pepa ‘Push It’ is what led it off. I wanted this girl bad. It went from Salt-N-Pepa “Push It” to “Can You Stand the Rain,” he said. “Yeah, weird memory. I remember the tape kept getting messed up so I had to wind it up a little with my finger. True story. I was quite the romantic.”
Get Hard hits theaters on March 27. In the meantime, stream their playlists below.
