Kid Cudi was in reminisce mode on Twitter last night (Jun. 6) – and not in a nostalgic way. Going through the Hot 97 archives, Cudi dug up a 2009 interview with Angie Martinez where the two sat down to discuss his debut album, Man On The Moon: The End of Day. From the graphic content on his “Make Her Say” single, to his skinny jeans, a bit of tension seemed to arise from the radio personality’s inquiries.
Fast forward a few years, and Cudi is using the interview as a way to “inspire” new artists:
Look at these two fucks tryna play me back in the day. This was 2009. Angie Martinez and DJ Enuff. Fuckin clueless. http://t.co/mpezrIgkmT

All new artists, let this inspire you. Always stay true to you. Let these other fucks catch up later.

Catching wind of Cudi’s hindsight commentary, Martinez took to Twitter herself, clarifying that she was trying to show him “love,” calling Cudi a “clown.” Cudi offered a response of his own:
@angiemartinez stop it. U were tryna play me. This isn’t up for discussion or debate. I didnt give a fuck what u thought then or now. Peace

After the brief exchange, the two proceeded with their evenings, making no further reference to the interview or their intentions.
