King Louie is currently in recovery after he sustained a near fatal gunshot wound to the head on Dec. 24 in Chicago, Ill. The famed rapper was rushed to a local hospital and later shared news with his fans that he’s regaining strength in the wake of the attack. Along with updates on his health, King L revealed that he still has two bullets remaining in his chest and one in his head. Although he’s in recovery mode, the Chi-town native appeared on CNN to share his thoughts on the rampant gun violence that’s plaguing the Windy City.
In an interview with the news station’s Don Lemon, the “Want It All” rapper simply said, “the devil is working overtime,” in his hometown. With the arrival of his organization, Put The Guns Down, the 28-year-old artist states there’s still hope for Chicago to end the gun violence, and it’s partly through the power of prayer.
“I don’t think I would be here today if it wasn’t for prayer. I deeply appreciate all the prayers that people had made for me, everybody that prayed for me and the prayers from my family and everything because that kept me strong and got me through my situation,” he said. “We just got to be strong and pray for our city and the right people have to do the right things.”
Two people were pronounced dead following the shooting that wounded the rapper, Chicago Tribune reports, while five other victims sustained injuries. An investigation is still underway.
