If your childhood didn’t include Reading Rainbow, that’s such a sad thing to hear.
LeVar Burton, who “took a look in a book” on the popular PBS show for 23 years (and raised millions to revive the show), evoked nostalgia in adults everywhere when he sat down for a hilariously intimate reading of Go The Fuck To Sleep. Reciting the 2011 expletive-filled bestseller in the gentlest way possible, Burton’s rendition of the book by Adam Mansbach was part of a charity event for the Children’s Miracle Network.
“This is one of my favorite children’s stories,” Burton admitted before he went on to deliver lines like “I know you’re not thirsty, that’s bullshit, stop lying. Lie the fuck down my darling, and sleep.”
Mansbach’s book was inspired by his toddler daughter’s difficulty with falling asleep – and obviously his resulting frustration. Let LeVar Burton make you miss Reading Rainbow while dropping F-bombs in the video above.
