Gabrielle Union celebrated her birthday this weekend with a ’90s-themed bash. Not only was the costume party positively fitting for the Halloweekend festivities, it was the perfect opportunity to have some ‘90s hip-hop royalty in the building.
Lil Kim surprised the birthday girl by rolling through Byblos Miami, where she performed some of her hits like “The Jump Off.” Based on Union’s reaction to the performance, it appears that she didn’t see this coming at all.
“Yes. In. Deed. EPIC NIGHT! Thank you @lilkimthequeenbee for being the legend you are & @dwyanewade @telltell_heart @dauniedaune for making it all possible!” wrote the actress on Instagram. According to reports, The Queen Bee also performed her song “Crush On You” from her 1996 debut album Hard Core.
Union got a shoutout from No Doubt front woman Gwen Stefani for her spot-on costume. In a video, Union runs up to the camera as “Just A Girl” plays; she’s rocking Stefani’s iconic look of plaid shorts, a white crop top and a blonde pompadour.
“@gabunion obviously this made me soooooo happy!!” She wrote. We’re glad the Being Mary Jane star had a memorable way to ring in her 46th year. Check out a few videos from the party below.
