The #MannequinChallenge is the latest — and probably oddest social media challenge since the planking craze — to sweep the internet. For the last week or so, social media has been obsessed with organizing freeze-frame mannequin-esque scenes, and it’s pretty hilarious.
In the various student videos, ranging from 20 seconds to more than a minute, youngsters have been gathering in groups to temporarily freeze time.

Once viral challenges take flight, it’s hard to trace the origins. But, somewhere along its timeline, Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” became the nationwide theme song for the challenge.
Once the rap duo caught wind of their single’s role in the mannequin madness, they rallied a crowd partake in the time freezing frenzy at their show in Denver Friday (November 3), and we’ve got to say, this one is actually pretty lit.
