Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le debuts on Saturday (Oct. 15), but Dr. Dre has already made it clear that he isn’t a fan of R&B singer Michel’le’s biopic. The producer’s legal team reportedly issued a cease and desist letter to Sony Pictures, the company behind the film which premieres on Lifetime, but Michel’le isn’t moved.
“Is he saying that he just didn’t abuse me at all? Because I’m insulted if that’s what he’s saying,” she told TMZ Live on Wednesday (Oct. 12). “I allowed him to portray hisself in his story the way he wanted to portray himself, and he allowed me the opportunity to portray myself in my story. And I think my truth will stand when we get to court, if we do.”
The film promises to let viewers into her abusive relationships with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight, after Straight Outta Compton omitted any references to Dre and Michel’le’s failed romance.
“[We] never were going to not tell the truth in [my] movie. We did allow him to have his attorney put that little disclaimer of sorts on there, saying that Dre disputes any and all of my allegations that I was ever hit,” she continued. “What doesn’t make sense to me is how can he apologize a year or so ago, and then now say that it never happened? I’m confused.”
