Morgan Freeman has finally settled the lawsuit between he and the woman who rode shotgun when a car he was driving in 2008 flipped multiple times on a Mississippi highway.
The crash left the then 71-year-old actor in serious condition, suffering broken bones. The passenger, then 48-year-old Demaris Meyer, also suffered broken bones. Morgan was driving Meyer’s a 1997 Nissan Maxima at the time, and the woman later filed suit against Freeman for negligence, accusing him of drinking and driving. According to several other reports last year, Freeman was suspected of having fallen asleep behind the wheel.
Meyer claimed that her and the actor met the same night of the incident, and in spite of rumors of them being romantically involved, she says that she was headed to one of Freeman’s three homes so she could rest and have “an easier drive to work the next morning.”
On Tuesday, Freeman and Meyer reached a settlement, ending their ongoing legal jaunt. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. —Linda Hobbs
