Since the start of Ms. Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation 20th anniversary tour in June, the singer has welcomed a variety of acts like SZA, Busta Rhymes, Santigold and Nas. This week turned out to be a disappointment to some fans in Portland who expected to see Santigold and Nas on Wednesday (Sept. 12) and believed the acts were a no-show. Turns out, the elite creatives were removed from the bill.
Santigold addressed the mixup after she was at the end of a scathing rant by a fan on Twitter. “I’m sorry you paid to see us and we’re not there,” she tweeted about the situation. “That really bums me out. I’m also bummed that @MsLaurynHill and crew didn’t tell ppl why we’re not there. She took us off the bill.”
Santigold, who recently dropped her dancehall album I Don’t Want: The Gold Fire Sessions, also shared how production issues may have been the reasoning behind the lineup change. “So sorry I wasn’t able to perform for you all. Note I saw from @MsLaurynHill Mgmt team read… “Due to production issues, The Miseducation 20th Anniversary Tour is unable to accommodate Santigold’s performance this evening,” she added.

Ms. Hill nor her team has responded to the speculations. However, some fans did take to social media to share their thoughts on the show.
Saw Lauryn Hill last night. She cancelled both opening acts, went on nearly 3 hours late, and remixed every song to the point of being almost unrecognizable. She's like that bad boyfriend who treats you like shit 90 percent of the time, but man, that 10 percent is GOOD.

Nas has yet to comment on his absence via his team nor through social media. He did confirm that he will perform at the New Zealand stop in Auckland’s Spark Arena on February 16, 2019.
