In light of her recent engagement, Mariah Carey has moved on from her past marriage to Nick Cannon. While the two still share custody over their twins, it seems that Cannon is mulling over a lot more than soccer practices and play dates. The Nickelodeon mogul dropped a song on Soundcloud, entitled “Oh Well,” that seems to sound like a diss track towards his ex-wife.
When Cannon was asked about Carey’s new engagement, he seemed to have nothing but positive comments to say, but if this song is really about Carey, he’s apparently more “bitter about it” than he led on.
Despite his initial reaction, he goes on to reportedly rap about where the couple dropped the ball and financial troubles that may have ended their relationship, chalking it up to an “oh, well.” “All you needed was a n***a with the money, cars and cribs, and guarantee your a** leave me fast, exactly what you did, but I ain’t speak of that. Oh well,” he raps. Although the America’s Got Talent host may have some change in his pocket, it may be hard for him to compete with James Packer, Carey’s billionaire fiancé.
By the end of the track, Cannon comes to the conclusion that he’s done grieving over the bitterness of a broken relationship. And as of now, he doesn’t seem to care a bit. “One day I’ll probably miss you, off drugs and a lot of liquor.
The single and its many references may seem like a track about Carey and their failed love, but Cannon jumped on Twitter to tell the media to pump their breaks. In a longwinded rant to clear the air, Cannon said the rumors are straight up lies. “How many times do I have to reiterate @MariahCarey and I are super cool! Stop trying to create negativity, we will never subscribe to it,” he tweeted. The actor goes on to say that the piece was actually a “character piece from a film.”
Sorry to disappoint, but according to Cannon, the only diss record fans will ever hear will be one about the government. Check out Cannon’s tweets below.
You know what I find funny, I actually released a spoken word piece about the corrupt system and the media pays it now mind…
