The body of a North Carolina who has been missing since January may have been fed to animals as revenge.
In January, Charleston Prentice Goodman was seen arguing with a group of people who shoved him into a van. Details were limited about the incident but local news site WRAL-TV now reports that the 26-year-old may have been murdered, with his remains given to hogs.
Authorities believe Goodman was involved in drug trafficking before his death. An informant shared with the FBI he heard Goodman was caught on video stealing cocaine from a drug dealer’s apartment. As revenge, a plan was formulated with men kidnapping Goodman with a rifle. Witnesses also claimed Goodman’s body was spotted in the same van he was kidnapped in two days later.
The informant also mentioned Goodman’s corpse was put in plastic bags and stored at an unknown location but another told the officers that his remains were given to hogs.
Speaking to Durham outlet WNCN, Tammie Goodman, Charleston’s mother said he left her home to pick up his daughter at the time of the kidnapping. “He kissed me on my forehead like he always does and said, ‘Mama, I love you, I’ll be back,’ I said, ‘I love you, too, baby, be safe,'” Goodman recalled. “I saw my son being shoved into the van. He was fighting with everything he had. He was saying, ‘Who are you? What do you want with me?’ and then when he realized I was out there he started saying, ‘Mama, go back in the house. Lock the door. Lock the door.'”
While no names have been released as suspects, the FBI has filed a search warrant to pull data from Goodman’s phone.
The story is still developing.
