About that time time a beauty website confused Whoopi Goldberg with Oprah Winfrey…
During Sunday night’s (Feb. 28) 88th Academy Awards, TotalBeauty.com made a the most awkward of mistakes by mixing up the host of The View with the media maven. Taking note of Goldberg’s massive shoulder tattoo, the site attempted to give a compliment–only it was to the wrong woman. “We had no idea @Oprah was #tatted, and we love it. #Oscars,” the Twitter snafu read.
Taking back to Twitter to apologize for the mix-up, Total Beauty said sorry to anyone who was offended. They also announced that they were offering to donate $10,000 to the charities of Goldberg and Winfrey’s choice:
We’d like to apologize to Oprah and Whoopi, as well as everyone we’ve offended. It was our error, and there are no excuses. We’re sorry.

But before the mistake would blow over, Winfrey offered a reaction to mistake, by way of Gayle King’s Instagram page. Posing in a photo while pointing to Goldberg’s red carpet look, King was sure to make one thing clear to Total Beauty: “we don’t all look alike.” “@Oprah & favorite daughter watching #Oscars & seeing @totalbeautyeditors snafu! We all love @whoopigoldberg but we don’t all look alike Jeeeze!,” the caption read.
