In mid-March, Lil Yachty displayed his acting chops when he dressed up as talk-show era Oprah Winfrey for his “Boprah” interpretation. From the wig to his clothing, Yachty sat down on the couch with collaborator Drake for his single “Oprah’s Bank Account,” which also features Da Baby, prompting a reaction from the mogul herself.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Winfrey said she loves Yachty’s melody and although she hasn’t seen the video just yet, she said “it’s nice to be in a Drake song no matter what—especially for your bank account, OK!”
In an interview with Complex, Yachty said the video’s inspiration came from one of Winfrey’s past talk show episodes. “It’s basically a re-creation of an old Oprah TV show episode. It’s fun,” he said. “I hope people enjoy it, and I hope it’s an uptempo vibe. That’s what it’s about. I don’t have a purpose for the song, just to be fun and be a vibe.” The melody sits at No. 23 on the Billboard Rap Songs Chart.
On the subject of a full-length project, the Georgia native said his album is complete. “My album is coming very soon. I haven’t spoken on it yet, but it’s coming,” he said. “It’s ending the trilogy to my Lil Boat series.”
