In what authorities called a “sporadic shooting,” one man and one woman were killed on Monday night (Aug. 3) at the Muzik nightclub in Toronto, Billboard reports.
According to Toronto Police Superintendent Frank Bergen, the shootout occurred just before 3:30 a.m. at the official OVO Fest afterparty. One victim died on the scene and the other succumbed to injuries after being taken to the hospital. Bergen described the club’s event as “well-run” with a significant amount of police officers in and around the area. “We’re satisfied at this point that the organization involved was doing their best and this did occur at 3:30 this morning as things were shutting down for the evening,” he told the press who were present at the scene. Authorities are also not sure whether or not Drake and his OVO crew were present.

The OVO event was hosted by Drizzy with Charlie B providing the DJ spin and was open to the public. Authorities also said that the situation began inside of the club and carried on into the streets outside of the nightclub.
“At this point we do know for certain that one or two [shootings] were in the nightclub and we believe the others were outside of that area. This is all unfolding now and we’re doing our investigation.”

This incident falls eerily similar to that of another OVO event at the same nightclub last year, Bergen added. Because of the spread of the incident from the inside of the club to the outside, authorities are now investigating three different crime scenes. Authorities do believe that there are other victims who they have yet to speak to, and requesting that anyone with further information on the suspects contact the Homicide Crime Stoppers or 14 Division at (416)-808-1400.
