Following the cringe-worthy leg injury NBA player Paul George suffered this month at a USA Basketball scrimmage, the Indiana Pacers small forward remains optimistic about his recovery and support for his team, but described his initial reaction to his contusion.
“When I looked down and saw bone sticking out, I knew it was bad,” George said in a news conference today (Aug. 15). “I’d felt pain before, but I have never felt pain like that. So I knew it was bad.”
The 24-year-old All-Star also mentioned an upcoming promising season for himself, “so for me not to be out there at the beginning, I do feel a little guilty about that. It hurts.” George still wants to remain a pivotal player on his team telling news reporters, “The last thing I want to do is feel like I’m not part of this team because I’m out. I’m holding out hope, just personally, because I want to be back.”
