The Philadelphia Eagles activated QB Michael Vick to the team’s roster this week, allowing him to practice with the rest of the team a week before he becomes eligible to play.
While Vick’s activation wasn’t unexpected, the roster cut was. The Eagles released wide receiver Hank Baskett to make room for Vick.
Baskett had his best season in 2008, making 33 catches for 440 yards, and scoring three TDs, including a 90-yard reception against the Rams. The fourth-year player is also known as the husband of Playboy reality star, Kendra Wilkinson. The couple tied the knot back in June.
Vick, he played in the final two preseason games, but his suspension rules him out of NFL action until the Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs on September 27. Until then, the team faces a shortage of quarterbacks, after starting QB Donovan McNabb suffered a fractured rib in the opening-day win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday (September 13).
