If you’ve heard the Plies and Kirk Franklin look-a-like jokes, this story will be even funnier.
Franklin dropped his first studio album since 2011 entitled Losing My Religion on Friday (Nov. 13), and the news made it to Plies. Taking to Instagram with a message for his gospel singer doppelganger, Plie extended a strip club invite to Franklin, in exchange for a church visit by the Florida rapper. Posting a video with his now-signature drawl, Plies let Franklin know that if he agreed to the deal, he wouldn’t even have to get a lap dance.
“Y’all tell Kirk Franklin I say, ‘I wanna take him to King Of Diamonds with me,” he said. “He can go in that motherf***er, he ain’t gotta get no dance or nothing. He can go in there and turn right around, and go take him a little holly bath, and he gon’ be back holy. Kirk, listen, you go to King of Diamonds with me, and I’ll come to church with you. A even swap ain’t no swindle.”
Franklin caught wind of Plies’ invitation, and posted a response video of his own. Captioning his post. “Y’all tell @plies that the album is called Losing My Religion not ‘Lost My Religion,’” Franklin challenged Plies to sit through a three-hour Baptist church service, followed by a church cookout, and then he might just walk up to the curb of the club. “Next time I come to Miami, you gotta come to a Baptist church with me, and sit through a three-hour church service with tambourines and a church cookout,” he said. “And then, I may walk by the club. I may walk on the parking lot and just walk on the curb.”
