The web of lies to keep Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) out of the criminal justice system is getting hectic to keep control of. For Ghost (Omari Hardwick), Angela (Lela Loren) and Tasha (Naturi Naughton), the outcome of their fate nears with each episode, and now viewers will be able to see what would most likely happen if Ghost confessed to his son’s murder of officer Raymond Jones.
The clip centers around the trio inside Angela’s apartment where she plays the role of a prosecutor that’s interrogating Ghost. The latter can’t keep up with the inquiries and is left at a crossroads on what to do next. A major shift in power or the upper-hand is underway, an element that the show’s creator Courtney A. Kemp said is key to each episode, specifically when two prominent characters were previously killed in the show.
“There are more difficult characters than others. There are more difficult actors to lose. It was really hard for me to lose Lucy Walters,” Kemp said in an interview with VIBE. “I really loved Lucy Walters who played Holly. J.R. Ramirez [who played Julio] was tough in a different way because he’d been in the show from the very beginning. He was a part of the original conception of things. It’s just difficult, that said the show’s not about the characters, the show’s about power. It’s about actual power and the transference of power from person to person. It’s about the powerlessness that we have as humans over things that happen so in a way, even though I’m the one making the decisions in this world, at the end of the day the reason people like the show is because they don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Watch the clip above before Power airs Sunday (Aug. 26) at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
