The rising Taylor Gang newcomer J.R. Donato has been making some serious waves this year as he’s had his track “All Winter”, featured on the TGOD Vol. 1 mixtape, landed on Wiz’s “Stranger Things”, and recently released his new mixtape, Why So Serious. Now, he strikes while the iron is hot on the first set of visuals to his new single, “Trust No More.”

The moody joint from the Chi-Town rapper is an introspective record where he vents about the downside of success when he realizes that he’s running out of homies to trust as a result of his rising popularity. And lyrically, he cuts down all of the snakes in his yard. The glossy and dramatic video features Donato in the studio laying down the track in the booth while reflecting on his circumstances. Here, the kicker is that his engineer is being shady behind his back.
“This song is about temporary people and temporary relationships. I had a situation with some family shit, and there were those who supported me, and those who didn’t,” said Donato via e-mail. “I strayed away from the trap sound on ‘Trust No More’ and just made music about my life experiences ’cause I have a lot on my mind sometimes. I thought about all types of stuff I was going through, made a hook, and laid it down.”
J.R. Donato’s Why So Serious mixtape is now available on all streaming services and mixtape download sites everywhere.
