Producer Kenneth “Soundz” Coby opened up about the epic EuroTrip he took with Jeremih, which resulted into the creation of his new mixtape Late Nights: Europe — in a new interview. Thanks to The Neala Group, VIBE sat down with Soundz fresh off Jeremih’s first headlining, international tour.
Soundz, who executively produced the project, accompanied the “Planes” singer for his set at the 2016 Overtown Music & Arts Festival in Miami a few weeks back. The producer that has crafted records for Rae Smremmurd, Justin Bieber, and Kid Ink claims he and the Chicago hit maker wanted to stay loyal to their Chi-town soil in every European city they performed in.
“You can name a song a regular title, that’s cool,” Soundz said backstage in Miami. “But to give it more of the European flair, we decided to name each song after the city we recorded in.”
Eventually, Jeremih himself joined the convo to speak about the project. The 14-track mixtape, which features Wiz Khalifa, K. Camp, Ty Dolla $ign, The Game, and G- Herbo, was recorded in every city they touched down in from the UK all the way to Dubai in the Middle East. Jeremih noticed songs like “Dubai” featuring Wiz Khalifa & K. Camp and “Lebonon” would raise an eyebrow with his fans back home, but he says his fans overseas will understand the unique track titles.
“Honestly, we went to Dubai for our first night,” Jeremih explained after he finished up his set. “That was my first show before we thought of the names and before the ‘Late Nights’ tour started. So I just enjoyed it as a part of the whole tour experience. It was for me, you know what I’m sayin’?”
Jeremih goes on to explain how “Lebonon” was recorded right after the tour was finished. He also dropped a quick hint about his forthcoming album coming this fall.
