CNN reports the investigation into the case will continue and that “the decision should not be considered a factor in the final determination of the case.” The shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon by George Zimmerman has gained worldwide attention and caused new debates about race in America.
Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Martin’s family, stated, “We want a very public trial so the evidence can come out and show people that the justice system works for everybody.”
Prosecutor Corey has never used a grand jury to decide whether charges should be brought upon a suspect, and she’s making it clear that this one will be no different.
“We do a thorough investigation. We make that decision ourselves,” stated Corey.
Meanwhile, thousands continue to protest calling for Zimmerman’s arrest.
