Queen Latifah stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to discuss her Queen Collective and the honorary diploma she received from Rutgers University.
Once the interview with the “U.N.I.T.Y” rapper came to an end, host Jimmy Fallon invited Kelly Clarkson and Latifah to join him in creating a three-part doo-wap harmony on his iPad. The entertainers sat on a gray couch as they looped their voices together to create the harmony for “Earth Angel” by The Penguins.
Led by Fallon, the two artists followed as he directed them through the production of their make-shift performance of the hit song. Queen Latifah held her own, keeping up with the likes of Clarkson, as each performer took on a verse of the classic. The original four-part harmony was released in 1954 and covered by The Temptations during the early formation of the singing group in the 50s.
As the song came to a close, the stars finished the song with one final harmony, collectively singing “I’m just a fool/a fool in love with you.” The wholesome performance brought joy to the audience members who could be heard laughing and clapping throughout the performance.
