With a new film focused on the power family togetherness, it looks as though Queen Latifah’s maternal instincts are kicking into overdrive.
The mogul recently shared her dreams of motherhood with E! Online while promoting her new movie Miracles From Heaven. The inspirational film highlights the true story of Annabel Beam (played by Kylie Rogers) whose chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction disorder was subsequently cured after she fell 30-feet off from a free outside of her Texas home in 2011. Her mother (played by Jennifer Garner) claims Anna met Jesus and visited heaven during a troubling ordeal.
Latifah plays a nurse the family grew close to during their hospital stay. While discussing the movie, she mentions she would like to share her knowledge and love with offspring of her own. “I can’t say what God has for me, but you will see,” Latifah said. “You’ll see when I’m lugging the baby on the hip that there is actually a youngin around here.”
The actress explains she needed to enjoy her years of solitude before embarking on motherhood. “I’m little bit of a procrastinator,” the 45-year-old joked. “I had some things to deal with. I had to get a lot of partying out of my system early in life for about 40 years. You know what I’m saying. I’m good now. I think I’m ready.”
She’s also open to the option of adoption.
“Maybe I’ll adopt a child that’s not necessarily a baby,” she said. “There are a lot of kids that need love out there. I want to be there for somebody. I got to get all this stuff and give it somebody.”
With the film largely about faith, Latifah says she’s left her destiny in God’s hands. “I’ve definitely been through things in life that have tested my faith and had me asking a lot of questions and really having some serious conversations with God, like ‘Why?’ and ‘What is this?’ Latifah said. “I’ve never lost faith…I have a tattoo on my back that says ‘faith.'”
The film opens in theaters March 16. Check out the trailer below.
