Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA concert series has been kicking ass all month long. Before it’s all said and done, 60 must-see artists representing a variety of genres at 30 different venues throughout Los Angeles will have crushed the citiy’s most notable venues.
VIBE recently courted a number of our favorite performers on the bill to get a little insight on how they all got involved with 30 Days.
Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA features shows in venues tailored to each bill, such as a block party with Cut Copy, A$AP Mob at The Palladium, and Wax on Wax – a vinyl DJ night at Madame Tussauds.
Also on the bill are Chet Faker, Chance the Rapper, Death from Above 1979, Juicy J, Future Islands, Real Estate, and Warpaint, each paired with Red Bull Sound Select artists. These artists are curated by leading music influencers from across the country and include denitia and sene, Gemini Club, Shy Girls, Thurz, Tink, Wrestlers, and more.
Read below to hear from Tink, Thurz, Tree, A$AP Yams, Run The Jewels, and Azizi Gibson.

What really made you want to be a part of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA music series?
Tink: I wanted to be apart of this particular series because Red Bull Sound Select is so supportive and enthusiastic about me. For about twoyears now they’ve believed in me and my music. And every show is always better than the last. From the venue, to the lights, to the response after my set. The crowds are always full of new faces, which I love because it helps me reach different fan bases. LA has shown me a lot of love lately, their energy is crazy.
Are you looking forward to mixing and possibly working with some of the other artists (from outside genres) on the bill?
I’m always excited to work with different artists and sounds. I’m just a music lover and I get bored easily. Plus I take what I can from every genre. I want to learn more from different artists, techniques in the studio, topics I don’t normally touch. I enjoy the challenge.

What really made you want to be a part of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA music series?
Thurz: Red Bull Sound Select is truly about breaking music, and all the artists on the roster bring something unique that the world needs to hear. Any artist who is passionate about their craft would jump at the opportunity to be on the bill with other incredible acts with a program that “gets it.”
Are you looking forward to mixing and possibly working with some of the other artists (from outside genres) on the bill?
Absolutely. My music has no parameters, it’s all designer, and I can’t wait to create something that you haven’t heard before with new artists from different genres. My Designer EP hints at experimentation and I’m just getting started.

What really made you want to be a part of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA music series?
Tree: I love Red Bull Sound Select, they have been a significant source of entertainment in music and the music scene in Chicago for awhile now. Given the opportunity appointed to myself to travel and do what I love (music) I think is phenomenal. I have the highest regard for the opportunity and Red Bull for the stage.

I’m always eager and willing to work with other artist from different genres, places and walks of life. I wouldn’t mind doing one song (or four) while I’m in Cali.

What really made you want to be a part of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA music series?
Saba: The people at Red Bull Sound Select have been involved in a lot of cool things that I always attend. Through a performance with Fakeshoredrive, we were able to develop a relationship and it’s such a beautiful thing. Tto be apart of it only made sense. The second I got approached to be a part of the event I agreed. It’s a great opportunity.
Are you looking forward to mixing and possibly working with some of the other artists (from outside genres) on the bill?
Of course, I’m already a fan of most of the artists on the bill anyway, friends with a few of them. It’s always dope being around events like that and being able to network and make the most out of situations like that. Some of the best out there are participating this year, and the fact that I’m even considered for this is extremely humbling and all around tight. I’ve never been one to only stick to my “genre” anyway.
