It’s painfully clear how much internet fame guides one’s moral compass into the deep end. This happens to be the case with Rick Camuglia, the owner of Italian restaurant Paisano’s, who has caught the eyes of many yet again for selling “Black Olives Matter” t-shirts just after catching heat for a sign of the same name.
Fox News reports the Albuquerque, NM establishment is peddling the tees and hats after the story went viral last month. Camuglia says the saying was created to promote a new dish containing black olives and had no ill intent to offend the Black Lives Matter movement. The restaurant received a mix of positive and negative feedback on their social media page, leading to Camuglia’s decision to sell the merchandise.
“The thing has gone inexplicably viral,” Camuglia says to KOAT-TV on Monday (Aug. 15). “It’s just something to do now that’s kind of fun, instead of selling pasta. We’ve gotten calls from Australia, Spain, France, you name it.”
The restaurant also posted the items on their page with satisfied customers because, fanning the flames.
The conversation of police brutality among black and brown people has yet to dwindle following the deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and the recent unrest in Milwaukee. Camuglia hasn’t given any comments on the bigger issue at hand, bringing forth more upset among allies of the BLM community.

As many wonder why we can’t just laugh at the debacle, the path to justice just happens to be of more importance than a screen printed tee.
