As Ciara and Russell Wilson celebrate being newly-engaged, the Internet continues to offer its own commentary on their courtship. The singer and Seattle Seahawks quarterback announced their good news on social media last week (Mar. 11), featuring a smile-worthy “she said yes” video of the happy couple. Most spectators first took notice of Ciara’s colossal engagement ring, but one Internet user in particular pointed out something else: that Wilson is a supposed “square.”
In a lengthy Facebook post that has since been shared across the Internet, one man recalled a trend in his college and high school in which “‘educated’ girls were refusing to date smart guys ‘squares’ because they were too nice,” and instead were opting for the “ball players, goons, rappers, thugs, dope dealers etc.”
“Then after being ran through till around the age 28-30, they would try to find a ‘nice corporate square,’ and were usually successful. This is how the game is ran,” he wrote.
The post concluded that men presumably like Wilson should not “settle for hood leftovers,” marking women like Ciara whose “ex baby daddy happens to be a Goon.” The spree of insults then ended by advising “square” men: “You deserve the cream of the crop,” and that Wilson was setting a “terrible example.”

The Facebook rant, which looks to have been deleted, earned a slew of reactions:
I highly suggest that all of the people that agree with this post should seek therapy. https://t.co/OAIq6VhWCO

Women aren’t rejecting you because you’re a nice guy. Women are rejecting you because you order chicken fingers at Benihana.

Thankfully, something tells us neither Ciara nor Russell Wilson are worried about what anyone thinks.
