Schoolboy Q has brought forth the topic of grieving in public versus in private after fans asked why he hasn’t commented or posted about the news of Nipsey Hussle’s untimely passing earlier this week.
“In my DM tellin me 2 speak on Nipsey…f**k u tHink I been doin…same n***aHz tHat call they self rap fans be calling n***aHz wack and all tHat smh,” the rapper wrote on his Instagram Story Wednesday (April 3).
He continued by stating that he also didn’t post about Mac Miller after his passing in September. Q delayed the release of his album after Miller’s death, as the two were good friends.
“THis is real life braH. Some sh*t not for IG,” he continued. “Posting rip next to macs name doesn’t do nutHing for me, it does sumtHin for u…I grieve in real life not Here.”
We all have our thoughts on the passing of Nipsey Hussle, and many celebrities, collaborators, and fans of the Victory Lap musician have publicly commemorated the slain rapper’s tragic death. Hussle’s longtime girlfriend Lauren London wrote that he was her “sanctuary” in a post, adding she is “lost” without him.
