Not only did Williams don stunning, natural looks in the cover story’s accompanying photographs, all snapped by Tanya and Zhenya Posternak, but she also shared a wealth of information on her endurance, growth, grace and confidence in the spotlight. Most of these experiences will now translate to life lessons for her daughter, Olympia.
“I think my mom instilled in us to be confident women, to really believe in ourselves, be proud of our heritage, our hair, and our bodies,” she said. “That was something that was really important for her to teach us. I’m definitely teaching it to my daughter.”
Williams went on to talk about the difficulty of strength (“being strong is never easy,” she said), beauty and how she’s going to double down on what it means to be an attractive person from within. “When I tell her she’s beautiful, I want to teach her that she’s beautiful from the inside,” she said. “Giving is beauty. Being kind and humble is the ultimate beauty.”
