There’s no doubt that Michelle Obama’s speech at the opening night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) was beautifully written and spoken. However, there’s one thing in particular that threw some people over the edge: her comment about who built the White House. Fox News host, Bill O’Reilly, felt that when our First Lady stated that “I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves,” she mindlessly left out the part about the slaves being “well fed” and having “decent lodgings provided by the government.” Shonda Rhimes thinks the FLOTUS pretty much had it right the first time.
In an effort to show that O’Reilly’s response was pointless and insensitive, she took to Twitter with her frustrations early Wednesday morning (July 27). “The idiocy never amazes me,” she tweeted. She went on to tell the news host to “try slavery.”
The idiocy never ceases to amaze me. Try slavery, Bill. Let us know how good the food is while you wear chains. https://t.co/sHSWPljgyd

Rhimes’ all-star #TGIT lineup may be on a break, but let it be clear that this writer is always looking to use her words wisely. I guess we can start thanking God for Wednesdays too.
