Despite the heartbreaking news of Electric Zoo’s early shutdown over Labor Day Weekend, New York City still continued to bounce its head along to rave-filled beats Sunday night (September 1) thanks to the manic masterminds otherwise known as Adventure Club. A dance music duo that has always kept its number one fans as its number one priority, Christian Srigley and Leighton James made sure their “club” kids got a show by honoring their EZoo official afterparty performance in Times Square’s Best Buy Theater.
With doors opening at 11 p.m. and Adventure Club scheduled to start at 1 a.m., patrons were amazed to still find that a line remained intact in front of the building 30 minutes after the band had started – but honestly, would you expect any less from a sold-out show?
The wait would be worth it though as soon as you descended the theater escalator and walked through the performance room doors, upon which you would find a packed ‘PLUR’ crowd moving up and down in unison to the beats dished out by the two figures on the stage decks. For two straight hours these DJs were able to keep up a constant energy thanks to their diverse set fusing house, dubstep, techno and even hip-hop. Notable moments included Krewella’s Yasmine Yousaf coming up onstage while they played collaborative single “Rise & Fall,” the drop of their new single “Thunderclap,” a shout out to Bingo Player’s Paul Bäumer, and of course, their send off hit, the Adventure Club dubstep remix of Flight Facilities “Crave You.”
It was the perfect way to end an amped up weekend, which would have otherwise been fizzled out.
