In his new role, Snoop will be responsible for re-releasing major albums from the label’s catalog in celebration of the company’s 25th anniversary, wherein he will be credited as the albums’ executive producer. He will also be responsible for the label’s digital and branding opportunities.
“Starting fresh with EMI is a great feeling. It’s a new partnership, a new Priority Records, and a new Snoop Dogg: The Creative Chairman… the Boss Dogg… the Dogg Father,” Snoop says. “The business model we’ve developed will bring the musical heritage of groups like N.W.A. to the forefront.”
Priority, which is known for releasing hardcore rap albums in the ’90s from Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy E, has provided distribution for labels like Ruthless, No Limit, and Death Row.
Snoop is currently preparing for the release of his 13th album, Malice N Wonderland, which will also be released under Priority in December.
“This is going to be the most potent dose of Snoop Dogg yet!” the rapper added. –Linda Hobbs
