It ain’t easy paying homage to Janet Jackson, but somebody’s gotta do it.
Tamar Braxton tore Dancing With The Stars down on Monday (Oct. 19) for “Famous Dances Night.” Taking on the ever-iconic “Rhythm Nation” visuals by Jackson, the singer/host of The Real had big shoes to fill – and she danced her way right on into them. Completing the performance with her military outfit (hat and ponytail included), and a black-and-white backdrop, Braxton stunned with an accurate rendition of the 1989 classic.
Up against Nick Carter, Bindi Irwin, Andy Grammer, Alexa and Carlos PenaVega, Alek Skarlatos and Hayes Grier, Braxton and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were one of only three duets to earn a perfect score. Along with judges Julianne Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, Grease star – and originator of a few iconic dance sequences of her own – Olivia Newton-John was on hand as a guest judge. Braxton took to Instagram to share that Newton-John called her routine “amazing,” and that she is also a fan of The Real.
