The family of an honor student is in mourning after Quinton Keyvon Martin was killed in a drive-by shooting after returning home from his part-time job.
CBS News affiliate WSB-TV reports the 16-year-old’s manager was dropping him off from his job at Zaxby’s in Newton County when gunshots rang. Newton County sheriff’s deputy Michael Gregg told reporters Martin died at a local hospital and his manager, who hasn’t be identified, is being treated for her wounds. Martin’s father, Roddrick Foster, said Quinton got the job at Zaxby’s to save money for a car.
“He was just a good kid,” he said. Quinton was an honor student at Alcovy High School and was thrilled to join leadership group DECA. He also had dreams of becoming a pilot. Foster believes the suspects were after another employee who worked at the establishment.
Authorities added at least two people were involved in the shooting. Police haven’t identified the suspects.
