The world poured out purple tears after the death of the legendary Prince. At age 57, the one-of-a-kind musician was found unresponsive in his Paisley Park estate by medical officials. An investigation is still underway beginning with an autopsy taking place this morning, but it was reported that Prince was battling the flu.
With thousands of fans taking to the streets in their neighborhoods to stand in unison and celebrate the life of Prince, the cast of The Color Purple received the greatest standing ovation of all time for their tribute to the “Adore” singer.
Following the conclusion of the Broadway musical, cast members including Jennifer Hudson and Cynthia Erivo performed a captivating and tear-jerking performance of “Purple Rain.”
Hudson also shared a story with the audience on a conversation she had with Prince a while ago. “He said his music will live on and he will live through his music so we want to keep him alive today with this song,” she shared.
