The D.O.C. recently unveiled on Twitter that he has regained his voice. The famed Texas-born rapper used to lend out a helping hand to the members of N.W.A by co-writing and collaborating with them—before he got into a car accident in 1989, which resulted in crushing his throat and vocal cords. The accident happened just a mere five months after he released his debut album, No One Can Do It Better, produced by Dr. Dre.
The last official album The D.O.C released was Deuce, back in 2003. And now, via a Twitter Q&A, the rapper revealed his voice returned during a stint in jail, but he’s not making any new music as of yet. Peep The D.O.C.’s tweets below:

To anyone interested. Yes. It came back on its own. Had it almost a year. Came back while I was locked up. Why finally speak now? Why not.

Unveiling his newly-recovered voice, The D.O.C. called into Sirius XM’s From The Press Box To The Press Row. Discussing his destructive lifestyle following the loss of his voice, the rapper also detailed its current state and how he is beginning to function normally.
“About a year and a half ago, my voice started coming back on its own and if I concentrate, I can speak with a natural speaking voice again,” he said, previewing his stronger voice.
It’s nice to hear that on the heels of the success the remaining members of N.W.A have had with their recent Straight Outta Compton biopic, The D.O.C ,who was featured in the movie and was played by Marlon Yates Jr., is also winning. In addition to this, he was dubbed as the link between Dr.Dre and his new artist Justus (who was featured on Dre’s Compton album), according to Complex.
Time will tell what The D.O.C will have in the works with his newly-returned voice. Listen to it at the 9:30 mark:
