Toya Wright’s family tragedy played out for the world to see. On July 31, Wright’s brothers Rudy and Josh Johnson were found dead after a suspected shooting in New Orleans. With family and friends by her side, Wright showed strength through tragedy after her loss. In an upcoming episode of The Real, Wright candidly talks about her initial reaction to the shooting and her long-lasting friendship with her ex-husband Lil Wayne.
“My mom identified the bodies and I just got numb,” she said. “It’s a pain I don’t think I’ve ever felt in my life.” In a recent interview with People, Wright condemned gun violence while going through her shock. “It was the worst news ever,” she said. “Murders happen every day and this is another dark night in New Orleans. You hear about stories like this all the time, but it doesn’t really hit you until you get that call. It hits so close to home.”
Wright also gave insight on Lil Wayne’s battle with Birdman and their possible chance at romance.
