Tracy Morgan is slowly getting over the hill to full recovery after his terrifying car accident in 2014. The collision sent the famed comedian/actor into a coma for a few weeks, but now he’s back on his feet and back on the screen.
In a recent interview with Barbara Walters, Morgan detailed that intense moment and revealed what it was like in the hospital. “The first night it happened, my wife got to the hospital, and the doctors told her, ‘We don’t know if he’s coming out of this coma,'” he said. “But when I first came out of the coma, I was blind for a week.” Morgan suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash with a Walmart trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike. His friend, James McNair, was killed in the auto-collision.
He also spoke on the settlement with Walmart, stating that the company “took full responsibility for the accident, which we greatly appreciate.” In summation, Morgan revealed his thoughts on the matter. “I survived that crash for a reason. I’m still here for a reason. I guess my room wasn’t ready,” he said. “Who knows? Maybe he kept me here to raise my daughter, to raise my family.”
