Power 105.1 host Charlamagne Tha God was featured in the final part of dream hampton’s three-part docuseries Surviving R. Kelly. However, many viewers took to social media to inquire why the Shook Ones author was asked to speak on Kelly’s abusive ways.
hampton took to social media Saturday (Jan. 5) and explained she spoke to The Breakfast Club host unbeknownst to the tweets.
Terrible decision inviting Charlamagne on this docuseries. Incredibly disappointing. He is a misogynistic abuser himself and will never represent my interests as a black woman. #SurvivingRKelly

dream hampton’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries detailed Kelly’s abusive Chicago childhood all the way to his current day success as a Grammy-award winning singer and songwriter. For the series, hampton secured interviews with former members of his entourage, journalists, psychologist, his brothers Corey and Bruce, as well as several victims–including his ex-wife Andrea Kelly and MeToo founder and women’s activist Tarana Burke.
The final two-hour episode aired Saturday night (Jan. 5) and like the previous two nights, social media has reacted passionately to Kelly’s actions as a manipulative, serial sexual child abuser.
hampton, prior to the Charlamagne uproar, took to social media to announce in March there will more a six-part series titled Finding Justice covering voter suppression, stand your ground and more.
