Tyga called into Nicki Minaj‘s Beats1 show Queen Radio on Thursday (Aug. 30), where he spoke with his former label mate on a wide range of topics, including his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Kylie Jenner. According to their conversation, Tyga implied that he had a hand in helping with her relevance and success.
“You need black people to f**k with you cause you need culture,” he said of Jenner’s visibility. “I had a lot to do with all that…She always had a platform and she was always destined to be what she was going to be regardless, but, when I stepped in, there was a lot of codes being taught. It was like, you could do this, you should start this, you should start doing your hair like this.” He also claims that he influenced the creation of her multi-million dollar earning Lip Kits.
“I don’t need to go online and tell people I did this and I’m the one helping her coming up with these colors and names on her…lip line,” he continued. “It was a lot of stuff.”
Considering the beef that Minaj picked with Jenner and her boyfriend Travis Scott after his album AstroWorld bested Queen for the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart, her interview with the “Taste” rapper could be perceived as a shady move. However, when Tyga was asked about his feelings on Scott, he said there’s no bad blood between them.
“We ain’t got no beef. It’s his time right now,” Tyga said. “You gotta let it ride. I ain’t got no beef with him.”
Twitter had a lot of thoughts about his comments. Check out some reactions below.
Something about this interview with him trying to take responsibility for her success along with the fact that she was a child when they started dating tells me a lot more about Tyga and Nicki than Kylie https://t.co/HekzJDhgNG
