Tyler Perry is joining forces with the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) and the NAACP for an event designed to enlighten students on careers in entertainment. Living the Dream: A Career in Content will be held in Miami, Fla., on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Perry was commissioned by the organizations and the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA) to deliver a keynote speech to the students in attendance. With his extensive resume in the entertainment industry, the Madea series creator’s speech is definitely going to inspire.
“This will be a very special day. A day to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and to inspire and empower young people as they begin a career in entertainment and media. We are honored to be presenting this event, headlined by Tyler Perry, and in association with two of the most respected organizations in America,” stated JP Bommel, President and CEO, NATPE. “I know that those that will attend will be enriched with greater knowledge about the opportunities that lie before them.”
After Perry’s speech, a panel discussion will be held with a slew of TV power players like Queen of the South showrunner Benjamin Lobato, and Netflix’s One Day at a Time showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellett.
The event will be held on January 21, 2019, at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.
