VIBE / VIBE Vixen are seeking editorial and video interns with a passion for journalism and a serious interest in music and entertainment to join the NYC team.
Are you looking for a writing opportunity at one of the most influential digital publications? Do you have an interest in pop culture, music (hip-hop and R&B), fashion and sports? VIBE may be the right place for you!
Editorial interns will research news stories, transcribe interviews and contribute content to VIBE & VIBE Vixen. Interns will also have the opportunity to conduct interviews with talent (artists, actors and prominent figures in entertainment) on behalf of the legacy brand. Must have a forward-thinking mentality and be able to work well independently.
Video interns will assist in prepping for shoots, filming and editing video content in post-production. Interns must have strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented and hold experience with transcribing footage and creating cohesive visuals via Final Cut Pro.
How to Apply
Editorial Internship: Send your cover letter, résumé and 2 to 4 clips to firstname.lastname@example.org, with “Editorial Intern” in the subject area. Applicants without published clips are encouraged to submit music-related pieces (reviews or news stories) of their own. Tell us about your favorite VIBE or VIBE Vixen issue or article and why.
Video Internship: Send your cover letter, résumé to email@example.com, with “Video Intern” in the subject area. Include clips or links to self-produced video content/reels. Tells us about a visual that inspired you creatively and why.
The application deadline is 12pm EST on Friday, May 15.
If you have any questions, contact our Intern Program Coordinator: Adelle Platon, firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet your questions to @VibeMagazine using the hashtag #AskVibe. VIBE is not seeking social media stars, aspiring music artists or the next contestant for a reality show. We’re looking for young students with a serious passion for music and journalism.
VIBE employs interns during its Summer (June to August), Fall (September to December) and Spring (January to May) programs. Interns must receive college credit and available to work 16-24 hours per week (with at least two 8-hour days). All internship positions are unpaid and are completed on-site at our New York office in Manhattan. VIBE does not provide housing or travel assistance.
