Could Dr. Dre have counted his one billion chickens before they hatched? It looks like a stall has been put on the buying of Dre’s Beats Electronics, and Billboard has gathered some theories as to what could be behind the hold-up. Sifting through the gossip pipeline, an unnamed source points to Dre’s little celebration with Tyrese (above) as worrisome for Apple, a “conservative company.”
In the video, Dr. Dre stakes his billionaire-status claim after news hit the ‘Net that the colossal deal was going down.
“The first billionaire in hip-hop, right here from the motherfuckin’ West Coast,” Dre says, right before the room erupts with screams and Tyrese busts out his crip walk.
Stating that the “Apple family near imploded with outrage” when the video surfaced, another one of the website’s sources questioned where Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine fit in the grand scheme of Apple’s business, as the two were rumored to be placed in executive roles. Other assumptions made were linked to the actual numerical value of the deal (which would be Apple’s biggest ever), as well as where Dre’s Beats Music falls on the tech spectrum.
The validity of these factors have not been confirmed by Apple nor Dr. Dre. But would holding him accountable for this video be fair? Sound off below.
