If you thought Yeezy was the only rapper throwing his hat in the ring of political candidacy before year’s end, you thought wrong. Now, Waka Flocka Flame has announced he is following his “dream” and running for Speaker of the House. The “No Hands” rapper, who wore a hoodie that read “Local Trap Star” at the time of his governmental announcement, outlined the reasons behind his surprising new career pursuit in a hilarious Funny or Die video.
“Ever since I was kid, I always wanted to be a rapper, but that was always a means to an end. You see, my real dream is to run Congress. That’s why I’m officially announcing my candidacy for Speaker of the House,” he said.
Flame, whose Flockaveli 2 project will be released in December, said that though he’s excited for the possibilities of his desired position, it wasn’t his first choice.
“I was gonna run for president but then I realized: A) Too young B) That’s not where the real power is.” He continued, “When you hear President Obama say things like ‘I can only do so much without Congress behind me,’ all of sudden I’m like ‘Oh s**t, who run Congress?'”
Waka promised that if selected, he will implement a new collection of “cool” legislation for all of the United States of America.
“Marijuana, women’s rights, gun control…yup yup, yup, approve, approve, approve!”
Before the two-minute video came to a close, Waka urged voters to back his campaign to succeed John Boehner, who resigned last month.
“Call your representatives. I’m talking Republican, I’m talking Tea Party, I’m talking Freedom Caucuses and tell them you want me, Waka Flocka Flame, as Speaker of the motherf***ing House.”
Does Waka have your support? Watch the video and decide.
