Thirty-three couples can now scratch “Get married at the Grammys” off of their bucket lists as four-time winners Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took a very public, very televised stand for marriage equality at tonight’s show.
On a cathedral-designed stage set, Macklemore spit an emotional version of the song “Same Love,” which became this year’s anthem for same-sex equality. Joined by vocalist Mary Lambert, the track became the one that 33 couples would remember forever as they lined up in the Staples Center aisles to exchange vows. Featuring twosomes ranging in age, sex and orientation, Queen Latifah served as officiary for the unprecedented wedding.
