What would have marked slain teen Michael Brown’s second week of college is now his funeral. It was a solemn day in St. Louis, Mo. as Brown was laid to rest, surrounded by his parents and relatives, at the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church on Monday (Aug. 25). Brown was the unarmed 18-year-old, shot multiple times by cop Darren Wilson on Saturday (Aug. 9), sparking many protests in Ferguson for the past two weeks. His father, Michael Brown Sr. read a tear-soaking letter to his lost son, saying, “I always told you I would never let nothing happen to you and that’s what hurts so much, that I couldn’t protect you.” Others in attendance included Rev. Al Sharpton, who gave an impassioned speech to the crowd of mourners at the service, and civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson. Watch a live stream of the service and burial above.
