Will Smith hasn’t released a new album since 2005’s Lost and Found. He hasn’t released an album with Jazzy Jeff since 1993’s Code Red. Smith returned to both the mike and with DJ Jazzy Jeff this week on the BBC’s The Graham Norton Show.
On hand with son Jaden to plug their new father-son sci-fi flick After Earth, Smith went back in time, towing DJ Jazzy Jeff to the show for a nostalgic performance of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. The crowd sang along note-for-note, and it felt like 1993 all over again. But, that wasn’t the end of it. At the end of his rap, Smith brought out one more surprise — his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star Alfonso Ribeiro to do the Carlton dance.
Smith, who has focused on his action-packed film career the past decade, recently hinted that he went back into the studio with Kanye West of all people. “We went into the studio a couple times, so I might get the bug,” Smith said. “I’m not going to do it unless I’m truly inspired, but Kanye’s been pushing me a little bit.”
