Will Smith is gearing up to sit on his throne as the Fresh Prince once again, and this time, he’s bringing his partner-in-crime. Smith sat down with Beats 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe on Monday (Oct. 5) to discuss the near-30 tracks he’s recorded recently as well as his plans to go on a reunion tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff in summer summer summertime of 2016.
“Jeff and I actually never have done a full tour,” he said. “I was always on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, I was always making a movie, so we’ve never actually done a full tour. So I’m looking for [this] summer to be the first time that we go out on a full world tour.” This revelation comes after Smith’s triumphant return to music last week after 10 years on the remix of Bomba Estereo’s “Fiesta.”
During the height of their music careers, the dynamic duo earned two Grammy awards (including the first-ever win in the Best Rap Performance category for “Parents Just Don’t Understand”), and their freshman album, He’s The DJ, I’m the Rapper, went triple platinum. Smith said that he has been busy with his acting career and “making kids,” but he’s ready to start the music making process once more.
“Shaking the rust off, knocking the dust off.”
The music world may be getting flipped turned upside down in the near future, and we’re loving it.
