Singer, actress and rising fashion icon Zendaya Coleman has recently been announced as the first woman of color to play Peter Parker’s long-time love interest, Mary Jane Watson, in the upcoming addition to Spider-man origin stories, Spider-man: Homecoming.
The K.C. Undercover star will reportedly be bringing a new spin to the character with thrifty looks and a nonchalant attitude.
“Everyone is so much like their characters,” she said. “My character is super dry and awkward. It’s great because it’s who I am in real life, so I don’t feel like I have to act too much.”
Although Peter Parker, portrayed by Tom Holland, will have his heart-eyes set on another classmate by the name of Liz Allan (Laura Harrier) this time around, we’re still excited to see how Zendaya incorporates her girl-next-door attitude into this iconic role.
