Los Angeles, get your walking shoes ready for Fall 2016. Amber Rose has confirmed her Slutwalk will return for a second year in a October 1.
“It’s going to be much, much bigger and better,” Amber Rose told People of the event’s return. In honor of this year’s event, the Amber Rose Foundation has launched a CrowdRise campaign to raise funds. The How to be a Bad Bitch author launched Slutwalk last year to promote women empowerment and put an end to “slut-shaming” and “body-shaming.
Although it’s launch was a success, Amber says there is still a lot of work to be done in making sure the message is communicated.
“Last year people didn’t quite understand what a SlutWalk was,” she said. “The number one misconception was people assuming that it was a walk to promote prostitution or promiscuity, which is really stupid. That’s the total opposite of what it was.”
At the previous event, women and men were pictured holding signs that dismissed certain societal standards and the idea that clothing determines self worth. The event also hosts on-site HIV testings and counseling.
Amber Rose will be walking with her mom this fall. For more information on how to donate or walk with your friends and family in the Slutwalk, click here.
